Nate Weiss is a Milwaukee-based trumpeter, composer, and educator. Born in Racine, Nate grew up in a musical household and began piano at age 7. After high school Nate attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he studied Music Education as well as Jazz and Composition. During this time he wrote music for the UWM Jazz Ensemble as well as his own student combo and gained experience as a musician in the Milwaukee jazz scene.
He has performed at venues and musical festivals in the greater Milwaukee area and across Wisconsin. Nate has a diverse performing calendar in a variety of genres, with a focus on Jazz. In addition to performing he is an avid composer writing original jazz compositions and arrangements for both small group and big band settings. His current projects include his quartet Momentum, and the Eastside Jazz Orchestra. Nate can also be heard every Thursday with Gary Christensen’s All-Star Superband, a Milwaukee-area big band performing music from the 40s through today.
